Rising energy costs prompted me to look into solar. As an employee at Oberlander Electric, I was familiar with Illinois Solar Services as we had partnered with them to handle installs. My system was installed in July 2023 and turned on in August. The process was easy — Oberlander crews work quickly. Illinois Solar Services did a great job communicating throughout the entire process. Since then, I have a small meter charge from Ameren every month.

My monthly solar bill is about $30 cheaper than my lowest Ameren bill. In summer when electricity usage is the highest, my solar bill is almost half of my Ameren bill. There are also some great tax and Ameren incentives that make this a great financial option. I hope these incentives stay in place.
